Gary Fincke is next Writer-on-the-Shore
Salisbury, MD—Award-winning fiction writer Gary Fincke is the next speaker in Salisbury University's Writers-on-the-Shore Series. Fincke will speak at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, in the Montgomery Room of the Commons.
An English and creative writing professor at Susquehanna University, Fincke has published 18 books, including Sorry I Worried You, a collection of short stories which won the 2003 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. In 2004, he released Amp'd: A Father's Backstage Pass, a nonfiction account of his son's life as a rock 'n' roll artist.
The director of Susquehanna's Writers Institute, Fincke has been featured in more than 100 publications. His poems have seen print in Harper's, Prairie Schooner, and The American Literary Review, among others. His fiction has appeared in Newsday and The Seattle Review .
Fincke's For Keepsies was nominated for a National Book Award in 1993. The book earned the Faulkner Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle Award. He also is a multiple Pushcart Prize winner and a syndicated columnist with Scripps-Howard News Service.
