This is a great filter.
It is very easy to install, it took less than a minute, which was great.
I followed the directions and threw out the first couple of batches of ice and water. So far I've had it in for about 3 weeks and the water and ice taste great.

I find this filter to be entirely underwhelming in terms of it's filtration performance, and a poor value for it's price. The ONLY reason I buy these filters is because the house I bought has a fairly new refrigerator that requires them, at a rate of 2 per year.
Performance wise, these filters are just barely able to handle chlorine and particulates, and (for a little while) lead and mercury, and that's about it ... in other words, they'll turn cloudy water clear. The specs claim it's also sufficient for "taste", but my direct experience says otherwise. The performance is so mediocre, I installed a seperate (and far superior) filtration system for my kitchen sink, and I only use the fridge filter for ice ... and reluctantly at that, since the ice has an off-taste.
Bottom line: if you own a refrigerator that requires these filters, you're pretty much stuck with them ... unless of course you're willing and able to install a higher quality filtration system (e.g., reverse osmosis) upstream of the water input. It's extremely irritating to have to spend $60+/yr on filters that perform so poorly.

This is the best of both worlds as Amana (Maytag) remind me that it's time to purchase filters and Amana sells them for less and ships for free. How can you beat a deal like that?

Amazon had the best price for the filter I needed. (Why are refrigerator filters so pricey anyway?). It works great, I noticed an increase in the flow rate with the new filter.
